Historic rivertowns. Spectacular scenery. Outdoor recreation. Indoor events. These are just a few of the attractions that draw visitors year-round to the St. Croix Valley. Nestled between Minnesota and Wisconsin in a picturesque valley, the St. Croix River flows between bluffs of limestone and sandstone, beginning as a narrow gorge with steep vertical walls, then slowing and widening into the scenic Lake St. Croix.
Funkie Gardens is a family owned business started by Baard and Diane Webster in 1995. They are located in Prescott, WI about twelve miles from River Falls, WI and just across the Mississippi river from Hastings, MN.
Visit the nursery located on three and one-half acres---ample room for a selling area, display gardens and propagation beds---all surrounding a pre-Civil War-era home.
Knowing that gardeners are always looking for new plants and places to visit, they would be happy to help you find what you are looking for. Let their display gardens inspire you, the plants impress you, and the friendly service bring you back again.
Celebrate spring with Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center's Apple Blossom Races.
Choose your race - either a 2K, 5K, 10K or ½ marathon. Or just come to cheer on the runners.
Proceeds from this event will benefit the Environmental Education curriculum at the Carpenter St. Croix Valley Nature Center. Call 651-437-4359 or click here for more information.

Residents of the St. Croix Valley and throughout the area are increasingly passionate about ensuring they are living in a green world. Theyre seeking experiences from communities, events, attractions and businesses that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and stewardship of natural resources.
The luncheon presentation will provide hospitality and business owners a broad overview of how they can build a green businessfrom identifying local food sources to effective natural resource conservation in their business. Theyll learn from Wisconsin and Minnesota state tourism agencies how to gain green certification, and how to market their business to tourists seeking a greener experience.
Presenters include
UW-River Falls Professor Kelly Cain, Director of the St. Croix Institute for Sustainable Community Development and director, Wildlife, Recreation and Nature Tourism Certificate Program.
Rusty Schmitt, Washington County Conservation District Manager.
Sarah Pischer, Tourism Development Specialist, Wisconsin Department of Tourism.
This luncheon will serve as a means to find out what areas of green tourism the Valley's businesses are interested in knowing more about. We will follow up with them in a focused workshop on those topics in the fall.
